High Sheriff visits the Orchards
Mr Mark Spofforth the High Sheriff of West Sussex visited the Orchards today.
He is the Grandpa of Robyn Garner in year 4 and he came along with his wife Veronica to tell the children about his role as Sheriff and the responsibilities it entails.
The children were very interested in the fact that The Queen is his direct boss and that he is allowed to carry a sword within West Sussex. They asked some fantastic questions ranging from ‘How many times have you met the queen?’ and ‘Can you still behead someone?’ to ‘How old are you?’.
