Year 6 Art – W/B 15th June 2020

Lesson 1

We will be studying Gargoyles over the next few weeks.

Look through the PowerPoint:

This week you will be developing your drawing techniques and looking at tone. Tone will be critical when it comes to making a drawing look realistic. Tone is sometimes referred to as ‘light and shade’. The relative dark or light area of an area of tone is also affected by the colour of the object the light is falling on. Try drawing a tonal scale that runs from deep black to pure white, it will be difficult to make more than 10 successive steps. It requires just three tonal values to make something appear three dimensional: a light tone, a mid tone and a dark tone.

Follow the sheet of how to draw a gargoyle:

You will need to build up the image by overlaying each step on the same design (not as it appears on the help sheet!) You will end up with one finished gargoyle drawing!

Divide a page into 4. You will focus on reproducing part of a gargoyle.

Use this sheet to help you:

Next week, you will be drawing your teachers as half a gargoyle!
